  1. ‘’Being Julia’’ is a film by Istvan Szabo and it is based on the novel ‘’Theatre’’ by W. Somerset Maugham. I cannot tell anything about the cast, because I have never heard about these actors, but for me their acting was perfect and natural.
The story began in London in 1938. The main character is Julia Lambert. She is a talented actress. She was in love with her husband Michael Gosselin, but their passion was gone. The young man appeared in Julia’s life, his name was Tom Fennell and he admired Julia’s talent greatly. But he was not as good as we have thought. Life immediately acquired a new paint — until then, while the young lover had tried to push Julia into the background. Julia understood which person Tom really was and developed a plan of revenge. And in the end of all of it Julia stood in the middle of the stage while the audience had been bursting into a storm of applauses.
I would like to say that this movie was interesting and easy to watch. And I really understood the idea of that motion picture, which shows us the strength of the main character – Julia, about her love failures, but that situation was not the reason to give up and she became a big name actress in the end.

  2. "Being Julia" is a movie directed by Istvan Szabo It was made in 2004 and based on the novel by W. Somerset Maugham "Theatre". The cast was amazing. Annette Bening played the role of Julia Lambert. It was a responsible role and she coped well with it. Jeremy Irons also fit perfectly in the role of "the most beautiful man of England".
This story took place in London in 1938. It was about the talented actress Julia Lambert who was in the prime of life and her creative enthusiasm. She aroused the envy and admiration of colleagues. Julia was passionately in love with her husband Michael Gosselin but that passion was long gone. Tom Fennell appeared in her life. He was the young man admiring Julia`s talent. At first Julia resisted the forbidden feeling. But then she decided that love affair was the best remedy for the blues. Meanwhile it turned out that Tom was not so common man. His affair with Julia was just a way to push his young actress to the stage. Julia realized all situation and developed a brilliant plan of revenge.
Istvan Szabo is a great director who was able to show the main character and the best qualities of hers. The movie was bright, colorful and easy to watch. And I enjoyed it.

  4. I want to tell you about the film which I have watched. "Being Julia " is a screen version of the famous novel by Somerset Maugham.

The action takes place in London of 1930s. It shows us the story of well-known actress Julia . She was very talented. Julia had a family. She loved her husband very much, but in length of time their feelings extinct. Suddenly, she felt in love with a young man, who's name was Tom Fennel. As might appear at first sight, a great feeling will be raised between these two people. Surely, Julia was even afraid of her feelings. Unfortunately, Tom deceived Julia.

In conclusion , I want to say, that this movie is bright and rather interesting. Actors are amazing. I really believed in their acting. A female lead was exiting and praiseworthy. This film is full of different feelings like anger, love, revenge, passion, betrayal, incomprehension. It is really gripping. There is no doubt that this film is up-stroke much!

  5. The first thing I would like to say is that the film "Being Julia" is one of the firs films I've watched in English. I rarely watch the films of such a genre but this film amazed me.
Take, for example, the language. The language of the film is easy to understand so that I watched the film with pleasure. The main thing when you are watching an english film is to understand it, isn't it?
The next thing I would like to mention is the actors. The actors are superb und beyond any descriptions. They created the true to life enviroment. Especially the actress who played Julia. She grew into the part as if it were her life story, as if she were the Julia.
What else I'm eager to say is about the characters of this picture. All the characters are important, I think, whether they are positive or negative. All the supporting characters helped Julia to become that woman she was. Julia is the main character and I liked her most of all. It is a strong talanted woman. Only because of her you should watch the film. The last episode showed what an unsurpassable thartre actress she was. Only a true acress can play without lines. And only a strong woman can avenge herself worthily.
The last my verdict is that the film is worth seeing.

  6. “Being Julia” is a very entertaining picture directed by Istvan Szabo. The story is great. I haven't read the book, so I don't know if the credit goes to the screenwriter or the author. Though the majority of actors are unfamiliar to me I suppose that Annette Bening's performance is superb, she carries the film.
“Being Julia” is a tale of amorous folly and revenge set in the world of the London stage in the late 1930's. Julia Lambert and Michael Gosselyn are the royal couple of the London theater scene, Julia an actress and Michael a former actor who is also he manager. Besides their work, Julia and Michael lead largely separate lives, they long ago having stopped a sexual relationship. She meets Tom Fennel, an ambitious young man of half of her age that wants to socially rise, they have an affair and she has a crush on him. Later, Tom has an affair with the aspirant Avice Crichton and uses Julia to get a part for Avice in her new play. This fact made Julia to plot a magnificent revenge.
Actually, Julia is not exactly what you would call an admirable human being. She is self-centered, catty and vengeful. But, as the Italians say, "revenge is a dish best eaten cold". The film keeps us in suspense as we nervously wait for the for Julia to execute her carefully plotted revenge. The ending of the film couldn't have been better, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
In my favorite scene her son tells her that she is always acting. Some people might be turned off by the style of the dialog, but it fits the context of the film. One of the devices of the film is that the ghost of her acting mentor is always watching over her like a guardian angel.
But the film leaves us with a sense of hope that, like Julia, we may all age like fine wine.
